Everybody has their favourite shops and the preferences are generally very regional. In the north, for example, one of the most popular supermarkets is Morrison’s. Set up by a local lad at the turn of the century as a simple street stall in Bradford and expanded in the 1950s by his son (who attended Bradford Grammar School as head boy), the supermarket has gone from strength to strength and is now one of the most popular supermarkets in the country; ranking 4th in the FTSE 100 chart. However, the popularity has, up until recently, been mainly concentrated in the north with Tesco’s dominating in the south. It is a hard area to break into as people’s shopping routines are generally very fixed, yet Morrison’s has made surprisingly easy work of it and is one of the most rapidly expanding supermarkets in the south, with many centres being built in the last 10 years.
One such shop is in Wimbledon and it is incredibly popular. This has resulted in the car park having to be quite large in order to accommodate the demand. The car park is free to use for people who are shopping at Morrison’s and is one of the few supermarket car parks that will not get too busy because there are so many spaces; meaning no more helpless driving in circles for a space! With the supermarket rapidly expanding it will not be long before Morrison’s is heading the lists as the most popular supermarket in the country!
